સાવર્જનિક પુસ્તકાલય કે જે સામુદાયિક માહિતી કેન્દ્ર તરીકે કાર્ય કરે છે એવા પુસ્તકાલયો પ્રત્યે ફરીથી ધ્યાન કેન્દ્રિત કરી શકાય અને સામુદાયિક વિકાસમાં યોગદાન આપવા માટે, સમુદાયની માહિતીની જરૂરિયાત પૂરી કરવા તથા જનતાને આ પ્રકારના નવીનતમ અને ખૂબજ ઉપયોગી વિચારથી માહિતગાર કરવા પુસ્તકાલય અને ઉપયોગકર્તાઓ વચ્ચેની કડી બનાવી શકાય.
સાર્વજનિક પુસ્તકાલયો સરકારના પ્રતિનિધિ તરીકે નાગરિકો સાથે પ્રત્યાયન દ્વારા માહિતી પહોંચાડીને જાગૃતતા લાવી શકાય છે.
આ પેપરનો મુખ્ય સાર જોઇએતો સામુદાયિક કેન્દ્ર તરીકે જે જાહેર ગ્રંથાલયો છે. તેના કર્યો પર ભાર મૂકવામાં આવેલ છે. કે જેથી જાહેર ગ્રંથાલયો પોતાની સાથે સંકળાયેલ સામાજિક સમુદાયોને કઈ રીતે ઉપયોગી નીવડી શકે છે. પરિણામે સમાજ વિકાસમાં ફાળો આપતું એક વધારાનું ઉમદા કાર્ય પણ ગ્રંથાલયો દ્વારા કરી શકાય.
ગ્રંથાલયો જો, સામુદાયિક કેન્દ્રો તરીકે સરકારી એજન્સી તરીકે કાર્ય કરીને સરકાર અને સામાજીક ભિન્ન-ભિન્ન વર્ગોના સમુદાયોને જોડતી કડી અથવા પૂલ સમાજ કાર્ય કરીને ઘણોજ ભોગ આપી શકે છે.
